Areas

Where wework.

Each place has its own stone, its own weather and its own planning rules. We know them well.
Kitchen extension with a sawtooth roof behind a red brick villa in Redland, Bristol

Design in Bristol

Bristol is a city of terraces and villas, built on hills, in Pennant stone, brick and Bath stone. Most of our Bristol work is about making these houses lighter, warmer and better connected to their gardens.

Bronze-finned rear extension to a Bath stone house in Lyncombe overlooking the city

Design in Bath

Bath asks more of a designer than almost any city in Britain. It is a World Heritage Site, most of it is a conservation area, and thousands of its houses are listed. We see that as a reason to design better, not less.

Converted stone barn in the Mendip Hills, Somerset, with a glazed cart opening at dusk

Design in Somerset

Somerset is a county of farmhouses, barns, market towns and wide landscapes. Our work here is often rural: converting buildings, renovating old houses and, where policy allows, building new.

Turf-roofed new build house on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon, at twilight

Design in Devon

Devon has two coasts, two National Parks and some of the most exposed sites in England. Our Devon houses are designed for weather first, views second, and longevity throughout.

Long low brick new build house in the Usk Valley, Monmouthshire, reflected in a pool at twilight

Design in Newport and South Wales

Just across the Severn, the rules change. Wales has its own planning policy and its own building regulations. We design homes in Newport, Monmouthshire and Cardiff with that in mind from the first sketch.
