Building new in the Devon countryside

Rural sites, replacement dwellings and Paragraph 84. Notes from the coast and the moor.

Building new in the Devon countryside

New homes in open countryside are tightly controlled. There are still routes to approval, but each needs a clear strategy.

Replacement dwellings

Replacing an existing house is often the most direct path. Local policy usually limits the increase in size and asks that the new home sits well in the landscape.

Exceptional design

National policy allows isolated homes of truly outstanding design. The bar is high and the process is long, but for the right site it can be extraordinary.

We are happy to walk a site with you and give an honest view.
